Achieving energy efficiency in buildings with older radiator systems doesn’t have to be costly or complicated. You don’t need to undergo major renovations or wait years to see results. The Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostat delivers cost savings, real-time monitoring, and control by transforming your heating system into a smart one.
What makes Vicki stand out among other smart thermostats?
Vicki is the first LoRaWAN® thermostat on the market, launched back in 2018. With over seven years of continuous innovation, it has evolved to deliver outstanding performance, enhanced functionality, and new features tailored to customer needs. Built to the highest quality and regulatory standards, Vicki is manufactured in the EU and maintains a fault rate of under 1%.
Certified by TÜV Rheinland for Automatic Hydraulic Balancing, Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostat can automatically perform adaptive hydraulic balancing in unbalanced heating systems. Additionally, with FCC, CE, and LoRaWAN certifications among others, Vicki ensures maximum safety, compliance, and reliable performance.
Vicki was also the first LoRaWAN® thermostat to support FUOTA (Firmware Update Over-The-Air). FUOTA allows devices connected to any public or private LoRaWAN network to receive firmware updates wirelessly, securely, and without affecting battery life or duty cycle, an essential feature for large-scale, long-term deployments. But more on that a bit later.
How does Vicki work?
The MClimate Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostat features a built-in display showing either precise temperature readings or an adjustable scale (0–5). It allows you to create heating schedules, which is perfect for offices, schools, and other buildings used mainly during the day enabling you to automatically lower the temperature after predefined hours to save energy. On the other hand, its open-window detection feature pauses heating when a window is opened, preventing unnecessary energy waste.
Built on an open protocol, Vicki easily integrates with any IoT platform or Building Management System (BMS). It is also highly compatible, supporting various radiator types, and has different adapter options. Vicki TRV is prepared for high-traffic or demanding spaces like universities, schools, and others, as it can come with a rugged backplate, strengthened with metal at the stress points for extra durability. The rugged backplate has up to 8x higher impact resistance and withstands over 106 kg in static load tests, all tested and proven in the lab.
The Vicki TRV operates on long-lasting batteries that can power the device for up to 10 years and are easy to replace when needed. It also provides real-time battery status updates, so you can plan maintenance and avoid any unexpected downtime.
In summary, Vicki offers:
What comes with the Vicki’s new Firmware Update 4.6?
Firmware 4.6 for the Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostat introduces several major upgrades that make the device more flexible, user-friendly, and efficient.
The most notable addition is the new 0–5 scale mode, allowing users to adjust heating intuitively, just like a traditional thermostat, while each scale level corresponds to a predefined temperature in the background.
Another key feature is the introduction of up to 20 internal heating schedules, enabling precise automation without constant network communication. Additional improvements include a custom offline target temperature consistent heating control even when the device loses network connection.
The new automatic setback temperature allows temporary manual adjustments that revert to the original setting after a set period, maintaining both comfort and efficiency.
The default minimum valve openness is now 5%.
Communications Watch-Dog - When working with unconfirmed uplinks, the device now sends a confirmed uplink before it rejoins the network. If the confirmed uplink is acknowledged, the device doesn't rejoin the network.
The motor starts moving after at least 5s after a manual target temperature change to allow more time for end-users to select the desired temperature. The motor calibration logic is further optimised, so the motor is rotated less, resulting in even better battery life.
Overall, firmware 4.6 makes Vicki smarter, more autonomous, and more efficient, minimizing maintenance needs while ensuring seamless operation and long-term performance. Too low battery for device operation is now reported in the keep-alive.
